This isn’t all that funny. Whatever.

Ferraby Lionheart

Ferraby Lionheart

On the 3rd, I went to the St. Vincent show at Cafe Du Nord, and I rather enjoyed the opener, Ferraby Lionheart, a singer-songwriter from Los Angeles. I almost bought a CD at the merch booth but opted for another pint instead. It’s cool though because I’m buying both his self-titled EP and his forthcoming LP, Catch the Brass Ring, on eMusic today.

The sound — mainly the voice — is reminiscent of Sean Lennon, but the main draw for me is the lyrics. Take a listen to the song below. It makes me think of you.

TRAMP Mix & Pics

TRAMP DJs

Thursday’s party at Underground SF was a heck of a good time. Lots of dancing, lots of drinking, lots of making out (not me, I’m saving all my making out for a special someone). But yeah, Alan, J.O.R.Y. and I kicked out the jams, and people drank enough $1 PBRs to throw their inhibitions out the window and dance their pants off. Below are (most of) my mix and a few choice pics from the night. Enjoy:

TRAMP, Underground SF, Thursday 8/16

TRAMP

J.O.R.Y. and I will be spinning the indie dance hits at Underground SF on Thursday 8/16.  Party starts at 10pm, more details to follow on exact set times.  No cover. Drink specials. Bring your own girls.

Word on the street is some pretty famous cats will be in attendance.  You know, other than me and J.O.R.Y.  There’s only one way to find out . . .

See you there.

Vagina Power!

Amen, sister! Amen!

I can’t even pull out choice quotes because the entire thing is amazing. You don’t even have to wait for the payoff. It kicks in right away. Enjoy.

Bruno’s Gig

Last Saturday, J.O.R.Y. and I had our first DJ gig for Kane’s going-away party at Bruno’s in the Mission. I don’t know about you, but I had an awesome time. J.O.R.Y. set the bar high with a very tight set, and I (hopefully) kept it going with the following line-up:

The Go! Team - Ladyflash (Simian Mobile Disco Remix)
The Killers - All These Things That I’ve Done (Morel’s Pink Noise Dub)
MSTRKRFT - Easy Love
Eric Prydz vs. Floyd - Proper Education (Club Mix)
K.I.M. - Wet ‘N Wild (Riot in Belgium Remix)
Simian Mobile Disco - It’s the Beat (The Teenagers Remix)
Daft Punk - Around the World

Here’s a version of the mixed set (not live from the gig, but live nonetheless). Let me know what you think.

Movies

The Ten

The Ten

I’ve seen an inordinate amount of movies in the theater this week: two. But usually I never really see any, so this week has been out of control. On Sunday, I saw Transformers, which was entertaining and action-packed but kind of felt like one big Chevy commercial. Either way, it was fun. Even more fun though was last night’s sneak preview of The Ten, written by Ken Marino and David Wain, and directed by Wain.

If you’re a fan of Wet Hot American Summer, Reno 911!, The State or anything by the same crew of comedians, I’d definitely recommend checking this one out. Absurd humor at its best. Highlights include the Mexican love affair and the prison rape sketch (screenshot above). I never thought I’d laugh so hard at prison rape, but hey, that’s what makes it rape, right?
