To the Stars

I woke up Sunday morning inspired to make a neo-disco-infused mix. Because that’s normal on a Sunday morning. Miraculously it all came together quite quickly, and it’s by far my favorite mix to date.
Track listing:
Róisín Murphy - Overpowered
Holy Ghost! - Hold On
Gui Borrato - Beautiful Life
Mark Ronson - Stop Me (Chicken Lips Remix)
Rufus Wainwright - Tiergarten (Supermayer Mix)
Quiet Village - Desperate Hours
The Black Mustang - Mad as Hell
Fern Kinney - Together We Are Beautiful

K.Y.L.E. - A New Day’s Eve

It’s been quite some time since my last DJ mix, but the new year brings new motivation. This latest mix was actually recorded on December 31, 2007, but with an eye on the coming year. Went with a few different styles and tempos in the beginning of the mix, but it builds up into a nice beat. The track listing is as follows:
Kate Havenevik - New Day
Tiefschwarz feat. Tracey Thorn - Damage (M.A.N.D.Y. Remix)
Silversun Pickups - Lazy Eye (Jason Bentley Remix)
Erlend Øye - Fine Day
Goldfrapp - Utopia (Tom Middleton’s Cosmos Vocal Mix)
LCD Soundsystem - Get Innocuous! (Soulwax Remix)
Hot Chip - Ready for the Floor (Jesse Rose Mix)
Piano Magic - Incurable
Lo-Fi-Fnk - City (Punks Jump Up Remix)
Dragonette - I Get Around (Van She Technologic Remix)
Enjoy!

Splenda, don’t call me.

Dear Splenda,
We used to have such sweet times together. What happened? I poured you in my coffee this morning, and you did nothing but sap the flavor, leaving me with a watery cup of caffeine. You know I’m a sucker for caffeine in any form, but come on, give me something here.
Is it because I went with Sweet n’ Low for a while? I mean, can you blame me? At least Sweet n’ Low had the decency to hang around when I moved across the country. Where were you the first two weeks I was in my new location? Did you think you could just take an extended vacation? That I would be too distracted by Taylor Ham to notice your absence? (more…)

TRAMP Mix & Pics

Thursday’s party at Underground SF was a heck of a good time. Lots of dancing, lots of drinking, lots of making out (not me, I’m saving all my making out for a special someone). But yeah, Alan, J.O.R.Y. and I kicked out the jams, and people drank enough $1 PBRs to throw their inhibitions out the window and dance their pants off. Below are (most of) my mix and a few choice pics from the night. Enjoy:

TRAMP, Underground SF, Thursday 8/16

J.O.R.Y. and I will be spinning the indie dance hits at Underground SF on Thursday 8/16. Party starts at 10pm, more details to follow on exact set times. No cover. Drink specials. Bring your own girls.
Word on the street is some pretty famous cats will be in attendance. You know, other than me and J.O.R.Y. There’s only one way to find out . . .
See you there.

In the beginning . . .

Last Saturday, J.O.R.Y. and I had our first DJ gig for Kane’s going-away party at Bruno’s in the Mission. I don’t know about you, but I had an awesome time. J.O.R.Y. set the bar high with a very tight set, and I (hopefully) kept it going with the following line-up:
The Go! Team - Ladyflash (Simian Mobile Disco Remix)
The Killers - All These Things That I’ve Done (Morel’s Pink Noise Dub)
MSTRKRFT - Easy Love
Eric Prydz vs. Floyd - Proper Education (Club Mix)
K.I.M. - Wet ‘N Wild (Riot in Belgium Remix)
Simian Mobile Disco - It’s the Beat (The Teenagers Remix)
Daft Punk - Around the World
Here’s a version of the mixed set (not live from the gig, but live nonetheless). Let me know what you think.
MP3: Chico Drets - Flying High
