I can’t stop watching this video and laughing my ass off.

Björk’s new video for “Wanderlust” is one of the most visually exciting things I’ve seen in a long time. It goes beyond the realm of just a music video, as it is masterfully executed by design team Encyclopedia Pictura, the same guys who created Grizzly Bear’s “Knife” video. Going way beyond budget (but not letting it stop them), they drew on inspiration from mushroom-fueled trips into the forest. And it shows.Definitely check out the high-quality 3-D version over at Encyclopedia Pictura. And check out the New York Times’ interview with the creators.
Yet another reason to love Hot Chip: their video for “Ready for the Floor,” the first single off their upcoming album Made in the Dark, which comes out February 2008.

This commercial isn’t new, but it’s perfect in a lot of ways, so I figured I’d post it. Thousands of bouncy balls bouncing down the streets of San Francisco to the tune of Jose Gonzalez covering The Knife’s “Heartbeats.”

Over the weekend, we switched to a new cable service, which really threw me for a loop. But being the adventurous TV watcher that I am, I spent last night cruising the new line-up and happened upon Ovation TV, which was airing Andy Warhol: The Complete Picture. The documentary chronicles the life and influence of Warhol as he revolutionized American art in the second half of the twentieth century. Though I’m no stranger to his legacy, the film was a fascinating insight to some of the finer details of the man’s life, such as his dyslexia, religious piety and hypochondria. Check out the above video excerpt, and check out Ovation TV this Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings for re-airings of the full documentary.

My scout leader wasn’t nearly as hot as St. Vincent, and he couldn’t quite pull off a dress like that.

Amen, sister! Amen!
I can’t even pull out choice quotes because the entire thing is amazing. You don’t even have to wait for the payoff. It kicks in right away. Enjoy.

Major power outages are sweeping San Francisco right now, and the Web is taking a hit. That is, the non-kyleparkinson.com Web. Craigslist, Netflix, Yelp, Technorati, Typepad, LiveJournal, and others have been down for most or part of the day. Meanwhile, kyleparkinson.com’s lack of posts has been due not to electrical outages, but rather a nagging cold and plans to expand the site to include a photo gallery. Oh, and my job.
Always one to find the irony in things though, I’ve posted above a recent ONN video about the Internet crashing. Enjoy. Oh also, I’m not sure about this new FoxyTunes footer on the blog post, but I figured right now it was appropriate to show what’s playing. Let’s hope this doesn’t (or does?) become NYC ‘77.
